Prince George's County

Y.E.S. Center

We all need support through the most important period of our lives.

welcome group 1

Welcome to the Prince George’s County YES Center, a beacon of hope, stability, and opportunity for young adults transitioning from foster care into independent living. Our center was created to ensure that no young person has to navigate adulthood alone after leaving the foster care system.

We serve as a central hub where youth can access guidance, encouragement, and practical resources in a safe and welcoming environment. The YES Center connects young adults to caring professionals, community partners, and peers who understand their experiences and are committed to their success.

Our program recognizes that emancipation is not a single event—it is a process. We walk alongside each participant as they build life skills, pursue education and employment, secure stable housing, and develop healthy relationships. The YES Center is more than a service provider; it is a community where young adults are seen, respected, and supported as they shape their future.

Our Mission

our mission

Together We Can Do It

Established as an initiative of the Circuit Court, our mission is to provide a comprehensive array of services and unwavering support to young individuals navigating the challenges of emancipation from foster care.

We are dedicated to helping youth ages 18–26 achieve stability in five critical areas:

  • Safe and affordable housing

  • Education and workforce development

  • Mental and physical wellness

  • Financial literacy and independence

  • Personal growth and leadership

Our mission is rooted in dignity and equity. We recognize the resilience of the young people we serve and aim to strengthen their ability to make informed decisions, advocate for themselves, and build meaningful futures.

Through partnerships with local agencies, employers, schools, and community organizations, the YES Center ensures that each participant receives individualized support tailored to their goals. We strive not only to meet immediate needs but to open doors to long-term opportunity.

Inclusive

At the YES Center, every young adult is welcomed with dignity and without judgment. We honor diverse backgrounds, identities, and life experiences, ensuring that each participant feels seen and valued. Our programs are designed to meet youth where they are, providing equitable access to housing support, education, employment, and wellness services. Inclusion is more than a word, it is the foundation of how we serve.

Responsible

We are committed to providing dependable guidance and transparent support to the youth we serve. The YES Center helps young adults build responsibility through life-skills coaching, financial literacy, goal planning, and accountability. We also hold ourselves responsible as an organization while delivering ethical, consistent, and high-quality services that prepare participants for independent and successful adulthood.

Respectful

Respect shapes every interaction at the YES Center. We listen to the voices of our youth, honor their choices, and recognize their resilience. Our team approaches each individual with compassion, patience, and cultural awareness. By creating a safe and affirming environment, we help young adults develop self-confidence and healthy relationships built on mutual respect.

Collaborative

No young person succeeds alone. The YES Center brings together courts, community partners, mentors, employers, and service providers to create a strong network of support. We work side-by-side with youth to design personalized plans that reflect their goals and strengths. Through teamwork and shared commitment, we help transform challenges into opportunities.

Vision
Our vision is to help young people move from surviving to thriving, becoming leaders in their own lives and positive contributors to Prince George’s County.

We deliver guidance, resources, and advocacy that promote independence, self-sufficiency, and emotional well-being. Through mentorship, life-skills training, housing support, education and workforce connections, we help young adults build strong foundations for successful and empowered futures.

Y.E.S. Center Empowering the Journey

At the YES Center, we understand the unique journey faced by youth aging out of foster care. Transitioning into adulthood can feel overwhelming. Managing bills, employment, education, and emotional well-being, often without family support. We believe this season can also be a time of immense growth and opportunity when the right guidance is in place.

Through a coordinated and collaborative effort, we equip our youth with practical tools to thrive independently:

  • One-on-one case management and mentoring

  • Connections to housing and transportation resources

  • Job readiness training and career placement

  • Counseling and wellness services

  • Life skills workshops in budgeting, cooking, and self-advocacy

Central to our approach is the belief that every young person deserves a supportive community and a chance to succeed. Our dedicated team works tirelessly to create a nurturing environment where youth feel valued, heard, and empowered to pursue their dreams.

Testimonies of Successful Youth
blog youthaccesstomentors 2024
The YES Center didn’t just give me services, they gave me direction. My mentor helped me set goals, handle my finances, and stay focused when things got hard. I’m proud of how far I’ve come, and I know I didn’t do it alone.
